I began this label in 2011 and it has taken a few different directions over the years. Originally I made latex and mixed media garments, then it evolved into cosplay commissions and cosplay themed pieces, now it has evolved again into more of a streetwear vibe. I am excited about this new direction as I tend to make whatever I would like to wear myself and can't find anywhere else. I live in huge comfy hoodies and joggers, so I like to make sure my clothes feel good to wear as well as looking stylish and being well made.
I have been sewing for over 20 years and studied Fashion at College (FD Fashion Design & Manufacture) and University BA (Hons) Fashion & Textiles Design). I specialise in pattern cutting and manufacture and I am meticulous in regards to construction. Each piece is made by hand by hand by me from my home studio in Yorkshire. I have a small turnover which enables me to take my time with every individual garment and ensure they are finished to a very high standard.
There is a waiting time for most things as this is a slow fashion label, another reason for this is because I am disabled so it takes me a little longer than it used to to make everything and I also find it difficult to keep regular working hours because of the fluctuating nature of my condition. Also there is only me here and I do absolutely everything myself so at busy times it can take unto 8 weeks to dispatch your order. If you need your item faster please contact me prior to ordering as I may be able to expedite it for free, depending on my current workload.
Tempesta Couture is a vegan and LGBTQ+ owned business and as such all things I make are vegan friendly with no animal products or cruelty involved in production with a focus on being as inclusive as possible. With the new collection I have been seeking out and working with other transgender and non-binary models, and gender fluid models, as well as queer and bisexual models, and LGBTQ+ allies. I wanted to create something anyone could wear and engage my local trans and non-binary community to push for better representation in fashion for non-cisgender models of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. The first release was so much fun to shoot and it was great meeting everyone. I will be on the lookout for more trans and non-binary models as the collection expands so please contact me if you are over 18 and can travel to Sheffield and are interested in modelling. Please include a few photos, these do not have to be professional, or a link to your portfolio if you have one. All gender identities, races, sizes, styles and level of experience welcome.
I also take commissions, though my space for them is limited, and I teach pattern cutting and garment manufacture and tutor college and degree students from my fully equipped home studio in Sheffield. Please contact me for further information or if you have any questions regarding anything else please use the contact form and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
